Access Usage Policy

All users have to agree to accept the following "Access Usage Policy (AUP)"

The Eligible (global) Grid User Community is defined to be people from:
  • the academic research and education community;
  • public funded bodies, institutes and research laboratories working in areas related to research and education;
  • other bodies and organisations, such as commercial companies, who are collaborating on academic research and education with the above institutes.

Use of the Grid infrastructure and resources requires prior registration of individual users with either an approved Virtual Organization, with a general Grid infrastructure or with a supported Grid project for the acceptable purposes defined below.

Acceptable Use of the Grid infrastructure and/or resources includes:
  • the execution of any application or programme and/or storage of data and/or transmission of data for the purposes of professional academic research or education as approved by the VO, Grid infrastructure or Grid project.

Unacceptable Use of the Grid infrastructure and/or resources includes:
  • use for private, personal, non-professional, political, commercial or for-profit activities;
  • the creation, storage or transmission of data and/or software in violation of copyrights and/or licenses, or which is otherwise defined illegal by law;
  • the creation, storage or transmission of data which is inappropriate, offensive, illegal, derogatory or pornographic;
  • use of the resources in a manner that interferes with the use by others;
  • use that exploits or searches for technical faults and/or security faults, unless this is performed as part of an approved and controlled test of the same;
  • use that intentionally causes damage to the infrastructure or resources, unless this is performed as part of an approved and controlled test of the same.

In case of violation of the above mentioned rules, EGEE SEE Federation has the right, after proper formal warning, to suspend access to the offending Users / VO, until the latter conforms to the rules.
